The Meaning of Number 23
Tola served as a judge of Israel for a total number of 23 years, from 1102 to 1079 B.C. (Judges 10:1 - 2). After the death of Josiah, one of the best kings to rule the Kingdom of Judah, his son Jehoahaz, who was 23 years old, succeeded him as ruler. Jehoahaz, unfortunately, did not follow his father's example and instead indulged in evil before God. After ruling for only three months he was dethroned by Egypt's Pharaoh and died as his captive (2Kings 23:31 - 34).
Jezebel is perhaps the most wicked woman mentioned in scripture. She is reference a total number of 23 times in God's word. Compare this to Mary, Jesus' mother, who is mentioned by name only 19 times!
The book of 2Timothy is one of the most personal epistles written by the Apostle Paul. This book mentions 23 distinct people, twenty of which are not mentioned anywhere else in the New Testament (Encyclopedia of Bible Facts).
The Number 44 and 444
The final part of Jesus' earthly ministry is 44 days long. This period began on the day he was crucified, which was Wednesday, April 5 in 30 A.D. (Nisan 14 in the year 3790 according to the Hebrew calendar used in the Bible). It ended on the day he gave his final instructions to his disciples and ascended to heaven from the Mount of Olives, which occurred on Thursday, May 18 (Iyar 27).
According to the book "The Appointed Times of Jesus the Messiah" (page 213), there seems to exist an interesting relationship between the number 444 and Christ's ministry. Jesus' ministry began in the fall of 26 A.D. In his first recorded public address, he links his ministry and message to the start of the Jubilee year (Luke 4:16 - 21, see also Isaiah 61:1 - 2). This special period of liberty and freedom began every 50th year on the Day of Atonement (Leviticus 25). Christ's linkage suggests that his ministry, like the Jubilee, also started on this holy day.
The Day of Atonement in 26 A.D. corresponds on the Hebrew calculated calendar (used to determine God's annual Feast Days) to Wednesday, Tishri 10 in the Hebrew (Jewish) year 3787. If Christ's ministry began on this day, it means it lasted 44 months (Hebrew years 3787 and 3789 had 13 months in them) and 4 days (444) until his crucifixion on Passover in 3790 (30 A.D.).
Biblical meaning of 1000
Samson, one of Israel's judges and the first person the Bible states was under a Nazarite vow from birth, was charged by God to free the Israelites from the brutal Philistines. One of the ways he did this was to use his miraculous strength and stamina, plus the jawbone of an ass, to kill 1000 men in the Philistine army.
15. And he (Samson) found a new jawbone of a donkey, and put forth his hand and took it, and killed a thousand men with it. 16. And Samson said, "With the jawbone of a donkey, heaps upon heaps, with the jawbone of a donkey I have killed a thousand men" (Judges 15:15 - 16, HBFV throughout)
1. Then I saw an angel descending from heaven, having the key of the abyss, and a great chain in his hand. 2. And he took hold of the dragon, the ancient serpent, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. 3. Then he cast him into the abyss, and locked him up, and sealed the abyss over him, so that he would not deceive the nations any longer until the thousand years were fulfilled . . . (Revelation 20:1 - 3)
Jesus, as King of Kings and Lord of Lords, will then rule the earth from Jerusalem for 1000 years (Revelation 19:16, 20:4, 6). His period of rule is commonly referred to as the Millennium or his millennial reign.
The second resurrection will occur after Christ has ruled the earth for 1000 years. This is the time when countless billions of humans will be raised from the dead and given a FULL chance to understand God's truth and receive salvation.
