Blessings from God can either be temporal (for a certain period of time) or spiritual. They can be tied to the obedience of a person or nation, or be unconditional in nature. God miraculously providing the children of Israel, after they left Egyptian slavery, with water, Manna and Quail are examples of temporal blessings. An example of a spiritual blessing is God blessing those who believe in him with peace and his grace (2Corinthians 1 - 2, Colossians 1:1 - 2, etc.). A conditional blessing would be God promising the Israelities to not bring the same plagues he brought on the Egyptians onto THEM if they obeyed him (Exodus 15:26). An example of an unconditional blessing is God's promise to David that his throne and the covenant between him, his descendants and God will always exist (Psalm 89: 3 - 4, 28 - 34).
God blessed Noah for obediance by saving his life and those of his family.
1. And the LORD said to Noah, "You and all your house shall come into the ark; for you, I have seen righteous before Me in this generation. (Genesis 7:1, Holy Bible in Its Original Order - A Faithful Version)
God blessed Abraham even in his old age.
1. And Abraham was old, well advanced in age. And the LORD had blessed Abraham in all things (Genesis 24:1)
Jacob was blessed with a name change directly from God and was promised that both he and his descendants would be blessed with the same inheritnace as his father and grandfather.
9. And God appeared to Jacob again after he came out of Padan Aram and blessed him. 10. And God said to him, "Your name is Jacob. Your name shall not be called Jacob any more, but Israel shall be your name." And He called his name Israel. 11. And God said to him, "I am God Almighty. Be fruitful and multiply. A nation and a company of nations shall be from you, and kings shall come out of your loins. 12. And the land which I gave to Abraham and Isaac, I will give to you, and to your seed after you I will give the land." (Genesis 35:9 - 12)
