Q. Are angels considered "sons of God" or is it only man? (Submitted by: J. G.) A. Here are two scriptures that speak of angels as being "sons of God": "Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them." (Job 1:6) "When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?" (Job 38:7) Adam, the first man, was called the "son of God": "Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God." (Luke 3:38) The children of Israel are called the "sons of God": "Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people, there it shall be said unto them, Ye are the sons of the living God." (Hosea 1:10) | | | Paul explained that, through the sacrifice of Jesus, and the grace of God, all men can become the "sons of God" through "adoption": "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. " (Romans 8:14) "For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God." (Romans 8:19) "And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty." (2Corinthians 6:18) "To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father." (Galatians 4:5-6) | | | Written by: Clay Willis | | |
