Did God use magic to create the universe?

Did God use magic to create the universe?
Are God's miracles nothing more than magic tricks?

Q. Why would God ban magic if in fact he must have used some form of it himself? Although he created the earth and the entire universe he left us no geological evidence or scientific explanations about how he did this. Since we can't explain how God did what he did, doesn't that constitute some form of magic?

A. The reason that magic and the occult are condemned in the scriptures is because of their involvement with evil spirits and demons. These demons are spiritual guides that are contrary to God's way and lead to evil consequences and ultimately to physical and spiritual death. Consider the case of Manasseh:

"Manasseh [was] twelve years old when he became king, and he reigned fifty-five years in Jerusalem. But he did evil in the sight of the LORD, according to the abominations of the nations whom the LORD had cast out before the children of Israel.

"For he rebuilt the high places which Hezekiah his father had broken down; he raised up altars for the Baals, and made wooden images; and he worshiped all the host of heaven and served them. He also built altars in the house of the LORD, of which the LORD had said, "In Jerusalem shall My name be forever." And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the LORD. Also he caused his sons to pass through the fire in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom; he practiced soothsaying, used witchcraft and sorcery, and consulted mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke Him to anger." (2 Chronicles 33:1-7, NKJV)

It is therefore incorrect to equate God's miracles with magic. Evil spirits live outside the realm of time and space, they are not physical and are composed of spirit matter or essence, and they can therefore manifest themselves in miraculous ways. They manipulate the spiritual power God has given them to lead people astray. God on the other hand use his spiritual power to manifest love.

If God is therefore outside the real of time and space and he has the power to create matter out of nothing which would include the earth and ultimately all of the Universe, why would he do this without leaving evidence. The answer to this rhetorical question is that he did indeed leave evidence for how the universe came into existence. Or stated another way how does God reveal himself to humanity--How can you prove the existence of God???

The answer is easy and obvious. How do you know that an engineer that designs red sport cars exists? The answer is because the red sport car exists. In other words we know that mechanical engineers exist because we see what they have made. The same logic can be applied to the existence of a Creator God.

"For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown [it] to them.

"For since the creation of the world His invisible [attributes] are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, [even] His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify [Him] as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.

"Professing to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man -- and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things." (Romans 1:18-23)

The above scripture indicates that men are ungodly, God is mad at them, there is truth, humans suppress it, and men suppress the truth to continue to live ungodly lives and as result they become foolish. In other words, to do away with God they must do away with his Creation. If there is no God then men can do whatever they want. Notice in the above scripture how God reveals Himself to even ungodly people. Man is therefore without excuse in denying the existence of God.

There is proof for God, He left us evidence. This evidence for a Creator God is the creation. When the cosmos is examined it reveals a Creator of infinite power that is omnipotent. The evidence for this is the design of the Universe. Therefore we can not honestly say that there is no proof for God. If evidence for God exists then we can eliminate magic as a creative force.
