Q. Is there a meaning to Mary wiping up Christ's blood right after He was beaten by the Romans?

A. The scene you mention is a figment of the imagination of many people and was incorporated into Mel Gibson’s film, "The Passion of the Christ". The Bible makes no mention of such a scene. Here are the Bible passages mentioning women at the time of Jesus’ death.

" Many women were there, watching from a distance. They had followed Jesus from Galilee to care for his needs. Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedee's sons." ( Matthew 27:55-56, NIV)

"Some women were watching from a distance. Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James the younger and of Joses, and Salome. In Galilee these women had followed him and cared for his needs. Many other women who had come up with him to Jerusalem were also there. . . . Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses saw where he was laid." ( Mark 15:40-41, 47, NIV)

" But all those who knew him, including the women who had followed him from Galilee, stood at a distance, watching these things. . . . The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee followed Joseph and saw the tomb and how his body was laid in it." ( Luke 23:49, 55, NIV)

" Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to his mother, "Dear woman, here is your son," and to the disciple, "Here is your mother." From that time on, this disciple took her into his home." ( John 19:25-27, NIV)

Of these, only John’s version mentions Mary, the mother of Jesus. After Acts 1:14, Mary, the mother of Jesus, is not mentioned again in the Bible.
