Is there a special meaning to Mary wiping up Christ's
blood?
Q. Is there a meaning to Mary wiping up Christ's blood right after He was beaten by the Romans? (Submitted by: Mechele) A. The scene you mention is a figment of the imagination of many people and was incorporated into Mel Gibsons film, "The Passion of the Christ". The Bible makes no mention of such a scene. Here are the Bible passages mentioning women at the time of Jesus death. " Many women were there, watching from a distance. They had followed Jesus from Galilee to care for his needs. Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedee's sons." ( Matthew 27:55-56, NIV) |
