A. While the exact years of when the Apostle Paul was in prison varies a bit due to which commentary or reference work is used, generally speaking the years Paul was imprisoned* :

  • Paul was arrested in Jerusalem – [58 AD, Acts 21: 27 - 22: 30].

  • Imprisoned in Caesarea for two years – [58 - 60 AD ; Acts 23:23 - 26:32]

  • Paul was shipwrecked on way to Rome – [60 AD, Acts 27:1 - 28: 16.] His first imprisonment in Rome – [61 - 63 AD, Acts 28:16-31]. Paul was released from Roman prison in 63 AD.

  • Paul was writing 2nd Timothy from a Maritime dungeon – [68 AD, 2Tim 4:6-8.]

  • Also 2nd Roman imprisonment, trial and execution [68 AD, 2nd Tim 4:6-8].
