Q. Will miscarried or aborted babies LIVE AGAIN (be resurrected) and given a chance to fully grow up? A. Some Christians believe that a baby or fetus who has not taken a breath, such as an aborted baby, will not be resurrected. Others believe that a fetus becomes a new, distinct human life at conception and therefore would be someday resurrected if miscarried or aborted. Genesis Chapter 2, verse 7 states: "And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being." (Genesis 2:7, NKJV) Adam became a living being when he received the breath of life. The word for breath in Hebrew can also be translated spirit. James Chapter 2, verse 26 states: "For as the body without the spirit is dead so . . ." (NKJV). The word translated spirit comes from the Greek word pneuma (πνευμα, Strong's Concordance #4151) which can also be translated as breath. Therefore, when the spirit or breath is gone from a person, that person is dead. The big question is when does God consider a fetus to be a new human being: at CONCEPTION or at BIRTH? |
