Gideon is spelled Gedeon in the KJV New Testament (Hebrews 11:32).

Gideon is used by God to free his people from Midianite oppression. He becomes one of Israel's Judges (1145 to 1105 B.C.) after he and his army of 300 fighters crush the Midianites in battle.
