Its population is 1,220,800,359 makes it the earth's second most populous nation. It also emits the fourth largest amount of Carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

Iran has a total land and water area of 1,648,195 square kilometers. The country is somewhat smaller than the state of Alaska. It possesses the fifth largest proven crude oil reserves and the third biggest natural gas reserves in the world.
